Job Description:
The Professional Services Lead Architect is a technical leadership role within the Professional Services organization. The Lead Architect will be responsible for providing thought leadership in developing solutions for encryption management across different industries, technologies, and business problem areas. The Lead Architect will work with Venafi staff across the company, partners, industry experts, and customers to design, develop, prototype, and deploy solutions for complex problems. The Lead Architect will also develop recommended architectures for standard product deployments. As a ‘voice of the customer’ the Lead Architect will provide insight and recommendations into the product development process to ensure Venafi products will continue to lead the marketplace for encryption management.
Travel to customers, Venafi headquarters, and industry events will be required.
Job Responsibilities:
- + Help the Venafi Professional Services organization extend its leadership as a world class operation by assisting in the development, sales, and delivery of service offerings in support of customers purchasing Venafi products.
- + Provide leadership within Venafi and with our customers in the design of technical solutions for customers based on Venafi and partner products and technology, addressing specific customer business problems.
- + Participate in business development activities including pre-sales meeting with clients and Sales team. Take the lead in the development of project scope and pricing, and preparation of proposals for Professional Services opportunities.
- + Work closely with Sales team to ensure cohesive product and services solution.
- + Lead the installation, deployment, and customization of Venafi products in a customer environment.
- + Establish and maintain management and technical oversight of assigned Professional Services engagements, including third party sub-contractors. Ensure all Professional Services processes are followed on all engagements.
- + Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
- + Assist in recruiting staff, strategy development, etc. as necessary.
- + Work with Venafi Product Management to ensure the development of products that provide ease of deployment for customers.
Required Skills & and Knowledge:
- + Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) including technology, standards, and implementations
- + Securing Internet applications, e.g., cryptography, standards, techniques
- + Directory technologies and standards, e.g., LDAP, Active Directory
- + Systems Management (products, projects) experience strongly preferred
- + Experience with IBM technology (MQ, Mainframe, Websphere) environments a plus
- + Database (Oracle and MS SQL) experience a plus
- + Programming experience including Windows .NET (C#), C, Java, ASPs and JSPs, and J2EE
- + Strong business acumen to be able to determine the critical business problems to be solved and to articulate the business solution to the problem
- + Experience and comfort working with sales, client IT, and client end-user groups in high-pressure situations
- + The ability to identify potential issues early on and escalates to management as appropriate
- + Sense of urgency, self-managed and goal oriented attitude
- + Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills
- + Willingness to travel 50-70% within US and Canada; International travel a possibility
- + Location is flexible; preference for major US city for ease of travel and proximity to likely customer base
Preferred Experience:
- + Bachelor's degree required
- + 15+ years experience working with complex computing systems
- + 7+ years of direct security or systems management industry experience
- + At least 8 years professional services/consulting experience. CISSP and/or PMP certification a plus
