Inadequate key and certificate management triggers system outages
Many network services rely on digital certificates to function correctly. If an issue with the certificate occurs—for example the certificate expires unexpectedly—the application fails, trigging a service outage. Imagine a financial institution that cannot accept transactions or a manufacturer that cannot run its assembly line.
To prevent such devastating outages, administrators must manage the certificates and resolve any issues before they cause problems. Manual certificate management, which relies on spreadsheets, human memory and scatter-shot deployment rather than proactive discovery, automated notifications and regulated workflow, cannot guard against these errors.
